First day of school is an exciting time for me. It means back to routine, it means putting to action what has been planned and it means a new slate. This year will look different than last year and the years ahead will look different than today. The goal is growth.

Homeschool is much like raising children. You cannot find all the solutions in a book, each person’s experience is vividly different and perfection is not the goal.

Our homeschool reminder for this year just popped out of my mouth: “I pray and prepare for the world out there.”

May that be what we do no matter what age we are. May we always be praying with the Lord who is preparing us for His purpose in the world.

As for making the first day special, you don’t need to break the bank. I gathered together school supplies bought last year, tied it around with a ribbon, added some new markers and a piece of chocolate for an added treat. I printed out a “First day of School” colouring sheet to personalize the set.

Simple yet special.
